Hi I have a sierra rg SGO. The main wheels (not the nose wheel) collapsed on taxi (after a gently landing) on a fairly rough grass runway. Has anybody experienced this or could indicate to me the problem/fix. brian

You may want to message our member Hyperion directly, who I believe is the only other Sierra retractable owner on the forum so far ... sounds like you are ok but it must have been a tough experience. I hope the damage isn't too bad!

Shame about your gear collapse. I always thought the smaller wheel up front would be a risk and that the main gear actually performed better than the fixed arrangement with more absorption of bumps and rough landings. Have you been able to work out where the initial failure occurred?

No not yet. It seems if the pressure is low, it is easy to push the over-centre strut up which causes the wheel to collapse. The ammout of effort to do this is governed by the spring tension. I'm considering adding extra string tension and maybe allowing a little more over-centre movement. Any suggestions? Not too much damage as I was only taxiing - creased both flaps.
