Does anyone have the Tech data for servicing the nose Strut, fluid quantity? I emailed Technam this is what they sent me?
However, please be informed that the inspection program and servicing information are reported into the AMM, Section 3 (for LSA), dedicated Section.
If the customer needs further information, keep us informed.

Here is the service data for the nose strut from Page 82 of the service manual.
4.6.5 Shock-Absorber check Every 100 hr or 1 year WOF the dumper must be checked for proper extension and presence of leakage. To test if the shock-absorber works properly , apply a downward force on the propeller support, and check the shock-absorber return to initial position. if the return is not prompt, check the pressure value and the oil level . Moreover is scheduled every 600 hr or 3 years WOF a inspection of shock-absorber assy and on condition change of O-rings and slydring. Procedure to dumper check ο· Make sure that the master switch is set to off and is engaged the brake ο· Lift the nose gear from ground and lock the airplane in this position with a jack ο· remove the upper and lower cowling engine ο· Unscrew the bolts, which fit the shock-absorber to the structure ο· remove the shock-absorber ο· Remove the cap of the charge valve (4) ο· Connect the hose from nitrogen recharge bottle to charge valve to check pressure as in figure 4.19 (loosen first nut of MS28889-2 charge when the charging hose is connected) ο· Check the pressure value, it must be of 20 bar ο· Screw the cap of charge valve ο· check the presence of leakage ( submerge the shock-absorber in the water for 5 min) ο· If the pressure value is correct but the shock-absorber havenβt a correct working , then is required a refilling of oil (follow the down procedure). ο· Put in position the shock-absorber and screw the shock-absorber attachment on the airframe Procedure for oil filling ο· Remove the caps of charge valve, loosen the first nut of valve and discharge nitrogen ο· Unscrew the charge valve ο· Drain all the oil in the shock-absorber after removal of charge valve MS28889-2 ο· Fill the shock-absorber with a oil quantity of 190 ml (use aeroshell 41,see the figure 4.20) ο· It Is necessary to remove the air from the shock-absorber, make some cycle of up/down of the sliding tube. ο· Screw the charge valve (big nut) ο· Recharge the nitrogen to the pressure of 20 bar and tight the nut

All the maintenance manuals and the POH are available for download. Owners need to register at www.tecnam.com/us/support/Glenn

Hi Glen,
That worked! Still there tech data is very vague, but better than the alternative 0. Was spoiled during my 20 yrs. we had very detailed Tech manuals. For the F-16 Falcon

Ray,
Glad you found and downloaded the maintenance manuals. Compared to Rotax, we're lucky Tecnam publishes what they do.
And I agree with you about how detailed Air Force manuals are. I have a little experience with Air Force manuals. I flew C-130s years ago as a member of the "Southeast Asia Flying Club."

My P2008 is in for it's annual, I received a call from Lockwood today informing me that Tecnam requires the nose gear shock absorber to be rebuilt every 3 years or 600 hours WOF.
Tecnam Florida (Josh in parts) says there is not a rebuilt kit offered, and Tecnam Italy has not released the specs or authorization for anyone other than Tecnam Italy to do the work.
My choices - New part #28-8-500-000 $1249.78 including tax or send it to Italy for the rebuild, Josh thought it would be around $800. plus shipping and I'm sure a long wait.
I choose to buy the new part, the only one he had in stock. Lockwood guessed 1 1/2 hour labor to install.
Josh is trying to find out if I can get a core charge refund.
Just thought I'd pass this along, it was a surprise to me, my P2008 is a 2012 that I purchased with 100 hours on it in 2014.

Does that apply to the old style nose gear, or all P2008 nose gear?

This is why I converted to E LSA. At 950hrs Iβve only had to recharge the nitrogen twice. Iβll probably change the oil in October when I do the conditional inspection. Ed

Josh told me page 82 of the service manual 4.6.5 shock absorber check, it's worded in such a way it sounds like it would be a normal check with the annual but he indicated no.
Looks like it applies to all P2008's and other Tecnams as well. I'll be doing follow up to make sure Josh is correct but to get my plane annual finished I didn't have much choice.
It might be good if others called Tecnam USA parts to see if the facts change any.
My plane has be performing great with no problems.

timb, I just checked and I have the latest manual. In the latest manual, here's what page 82 (P2008 LSA AMM - Ed3r4) says concerning the Nose Shock-Absorber: 4.6.5 Shock-Absorber check Every 100 hr or 1 year WOF the dumper must be checked for proper extension and presence of leakage. To test if the shock-absorber works properly , apply a downward force on the propeller support, and check the shock-absorber return to initial position. if the return is not prompt, check the pressure value and the oil level. Moreover is scheduled every 600 hr or 3 years WOF a inspection of shock-absorber assy and on condition change of O-rings and slydring. I don't see where it mandates rebuilding or replacing. What am I missing? Glenn Attachments:

Hereβs page 82 (as soon as I figure out how to post the image). Note that it says inspection and on condition replacement. That doesnβt look mandatory to me.
