Good evening,
I wanted to give a brief introduction as a new owner of N902TA. She is serial number 083, a 72 hour 2014 912is dynon'd P2008. I am awaiting my ppl checkride, which will be next Tuesday February, 5th.
To express some gratitude in this purchase, I would like to thank Mark in Mankato, Glen in the Carolinas, Brett at leading edge, and Phil at hova for their time with the various pre buy questions, and post purchase support. Josh and Cindy as well for honorable mention.
We're based at KFFT Capital City in Frankfort, Kentucky if any board members want to drop in this season.
I will contribute what I can to the board. I am a fresh owner, but have spent almost 2 months going over her with our mechanic, that being said, I did grow up on a sod farm, with a bachelors in Turfgrass science currently operating Superior Agricultural Services. If anyone needs some free advice regarding turf strip management please feel free to reach out.

Welcome Grant. I always like when I see another owner that has Dynon. There are just a couple of us as most have G3X. I have a P2008 with 914 and two Skyview touch screens. This group is a very valuable resource when you have issues.

Mark, no sir. I will be taking it in a older piper Cherokee. Originally I had intended to use the p2008, but the 912is sport upgrade as well as 5 year rubber (and unfortunate lane a problem on first flight) did not inspire much confidence in the platform from my instructor.
The dynons have indeed shown their "cumbersomalities" with one having to be replaced first thing due to what was explained as a hard drive issue (system event 3 and 5, occasional boot looping). New backup battery's and a 2020 GPS antenna for hopefully continued adsb compliance.
The next project will be understanding the garmin 796/skyview interface, as we have a mid panel 796 that unfortunately is not sending data/or satellite radio onto the dynon or intercom panel.
Yes! It will be good to know the other 912is guys. I do have a custom defined fuel pressure file from dynon to make use of the uma 0-70 psi differential fuel pressure sending unit that was installed via the one tecnam fuel return line job card.
I am excited, I suppose at 27 years old, I may be one of the younger tecnam owners, so any input or wisdom will be appreciated.

Hey Grant. I have the 796 mid panel as well. It has the docking station so I pop it out and keep it at home so I can practice with it. There are still some things about it I don't know. I added the 15 degree tilt addition to the docking station. This tilts the 796 towards the pilot. Makes it easier to use and also provides good anchor spots for the fingers so you can push soft buttons with your thumb and not get the inadvertent pushes. Highly recommend this addition.
I have the same issue with the 796 not talking to my Dynon intercom panel. I believe this is a wiring hook up issue that Tecnam missed during the build. I don't think its because something is broken. I haven't really pursued this fix yet as I don't have XM radio, however I do have XM weather which I love. It would however be nice to hear the beeps when buttons are pushed and any alerts that are programed in. Lets keep in touch on this issue as I think we are dealing with the same problem.

Nice. She just completed the sport upgrade, and lane a/b split at the diagnostic connector. I have my fingers crossed that the current ecu firmware will yield better reliability and less noxious lane warning illumination.
Are you guys having good luck?

That's the best site for 912iS questions/issues...

Thanks for the support guys. Just an update, passed the ppl checkride two weeks ago, which was a long yearned for accomplishment, and have put right at 20 hours on 902TA, since the 912is sport upgrade, with no squawks. Still getting called an experimental by the controllers at the local class Charlie tho.
Hope everyone is well, and maybe we'll see some of ya around.
