Danal, Good explanation but after reading your post, I'm curious how this Tecnam P2008 managed to go from S-LSA to Experimental Kit Built Airworthiness? Maybe just a friendly DAR or FSDO... Old post; I just had time to research: As of 6/1/2019 there are 54 P2008s in the FAA database. All but three of them are coded "9A" where the 9 is "Light Sport" and the A is "Airplane" (as opposed to "Powered Parachute" or "Weight Shift" or...). The other three are experimental coded, one each: 48C - 4=Experimental, 8C=Light Sport (that previously held a special light sport registration). 478C - 4=Experimental, 7=built from a kit, 8C=Light Sport (that previously held a special light sport registration). 30 - 3=Exhibition, 0=Show compliance with FARs. I can't prove it... but I'd be willing to be that "7" in the one you showed, "kit", is either a typo, or someone checked the box on the 8130-6 form and the data-entry clerk did not catch it. Anyway, that's what is in the FAA database for P2008s

Also, since this post started with Astore performance, there are 22 Astore in the FAA DB as of 6/1/2019. All but two of them are "9A" (SLSA, Airplane). The two exceptions are:
48C - 4=Experimental, 8C=Light Sport (that previously held a special light sport registration).
1A - Standard (i.e. type certified), and the "A" means something different for 'standard' airplanes. It means "Acrobatic". Yikes!!
So... at least one person has notified the FAA they've converted their Astore from SLSA to ELSA. And at least one database entry is just flat wrong, as there cannot have ever been a "type certified" Astore, nor an acrobatic Astore.

Let’s hope the owner of the ‘1A’ doesn’t attempt to fly it as if it really is!

You can do one lomcevak in an Astore.
On a more serious note, if there are only 22 Astores in the FAA database, and since I believe they're up to serial number 70, it would be interesting to know in what country the other Astores are located and what their certification is. I've been unable to find any outside of the U.S.

That's assuming they started with 01, montanapilot.

I knew some wise guy was going to come up with that.

And, you very well might be correct. We tried to find Astore's registered in Europe, and I think we only found 2 of them.

That's assuming they started with 01, montanapilot. The 22 in the FAA DB are shown below. It would seem almost certain that some of the missing numbers are outside the US. Specifically, there is no discernible "jump" with model year, and there are skipped numbers within a year. For example, 2015 is missing 38, 40, 41 and 44. It might be possible that they just skip numbers at random; it seems much more likely that the missing numbers are simply in another country. Also, it appears possible that they sold at least 37 of them the first year they were available, and it slowed after that. Maybe. 701TA 22 2014 627TA 27 2014 98AS 29 2014 207TN 30 2014 334TA 34 2014 837TA 37 2014 194CT 39 2015 532KF 42 2015 715RW 43 2015 745TA 45 2015 1547T 47 2016 272WP 48 2016 655CC 50 2016 251TA 51 2016 152TU 52 2016 1228K 58 377KM 60 2017 661TU 61 2017 63TU 63 2017 4824T 64 2017 165TU 65 674CM 66 2018

#67 is being picked up from Sebring by an Arizona owner within the next couple of weeks. The first new Astore in 2019?
