New Tecnam P2008 owner and new to the Rotax engines. I would like to use Mogas whenever possible, but am finding it hard to get a conclusive answer to exactly what grade of gas I should use. In my area, I have access to 93 With Ethanol, 91 with Ethernol and 90 without. I can also get 100LL, but understand that this is less desirable.
Thanks
Dave

Rotax says 91 minimum so use the 93. I have close to 900hrs on my P2008 with 914 engine. Over six hundred have been with 93 with 10%e. No problems Ed

I use 91 no ethanol. A distant second choice for me is 93 with ethanol. I only use 100LL when I have to refuel on a cross country. A list of e-free gas stations is updated regularly here: Ethanol Free Gas Stations in the US

The last three issues of Sport Aviation have had articles on the pros and cons of all the fuels. A lot of good info on the choices we have. In Illinois E10 is all we can get. Ed

One other thing. Avgas has almost 2.5 times as much lead as leaded auto gas used to have. Ed

Otherwise, its 93 with ethanol.

I'd check with the local marinas. They may carry high octane e-free.

Thanks Dave The other thing to remember is that Mogas doesn’t have the shelf life of 100LL. Since I store mogas in a tank, I want the freshest gas I can get. That’s why I use 93 E10. I feel the gas stations go through it more quickly and it will likely be the freshest. Haven’t had (or heard of) any issues with the ethanol in the P2008.

For those using mogas who don't have pickup trucks, how are you transporting your fuel? I happen to live in an area with no on-airport mogas options within a reasonable distance. So my only option would be guying at a gas station and ferrying it to the plane.
As I understand it, transporting any significant quantity of gas in an enclosed area such as a car trunk is dangerous--a really bad idea. Inside the car is better but still not great. Windows rolled down and containers secured tight in the back seat would help.
In the end, I keep buying 100LL and Decalin, though I would prefer not to. It's almost like a pickup should be included with every Tecnam purchase....

I tow this behind the car and buy 50 gallons at a time. It holds 109 gallons. Flocker gave me the idea.

My Dad has used 91 no ethanol as much as possible in the last three years and in the last year hasn’t had to use 100LL at all thank goodness. Luckily Nebraska and Idaho have 91 no ethanol. This was with the 914.
I’ve used 93 E10 for three months last summer in Texas with a 914 P2008 and never had any issues. A lot of members here have used no spill gas cans that work really well too.

I refuled with Mogas for the first time this morning, using 93 with ethanol. Basically I purchased 3 * 5 gallon fuel cans and filled them at the most popular gas station in my area. To transfer the gas I purchased and used a TERAPUMP 3rd Gen and a Mr.Funnel fuel filter. Took some time, but worked OK (so far!!)
