I'm working on some structural mods on a p2006T for a NASA project that is going to require removing some rivets. The rivets that need to be removed have 01DC stamped in the head. Is anyone familiar with what the 01DC stands for? They look like a standard 470AD rivet, but I need to make sure. There is also a smaller rivet that needs to be removed with what looks like two overlaid 7's on them. The blind fasteners look like a standard pop rivet, but if anyone has a reference or part number it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marc

Hi Marc, Experimental forums like vansairforce might have more rivet information. Another option is to contact Tecnam, but I'm guessing you've done that already. Thirdly, perhaps a rivet specialty company could help. My cursory search indicates that 01DC suggests the manufacturer. But that's five minutes of google

Thanks. I found some vague info about it possibly being the manufacturers id. on an Airstream forum, but with this being a NASA project, They want to know exactly what it is. I did send an email out to Tecnam and have not heard back yet.

Tecnam got back to me. They are standard MS20470-AD4 rivets. The blind rivets are Avdel® Avex® 01663-00410 Multi-Grip Blind Rivet. Hope this helps anyone who may need to convert their Tecnam to electric lol.

Where is it being built? Tony

We have an empty fuselage here in San Luis Obispo CA that we are fitting the wing on. Once we complete the fit and generate documentation on how to do the install and mod, the wing will be sent to NASA at Edwards Airforce Base. NASA will then remove the stock Tecnam wing that has electric motors installed in the stock location, and install the final wing that I am integrating (the wing shown in my avatar). www.youtube.com/watch?v=No9Rq3VE0FI&feature=youtu.be&t=51

VERY cool project! Thanks for sharing and I'll be following the progress. Who is supplying the motors for the final wing design?

FYI these Avdel® Avex® 01663-00410 Multi-Grip Blind Rivets are discontinued and have been superseded by Tecnam with FAR 553320803. These new rivets are manufactured in the EU and are very difficult to find state side. I will post up what we end up using as a suitable replacement when we find one.
