Just experienced dual! fuel pump failure on a 914. Anyone else have fuel pump issues? 2020 Astore 31 hours. Fortunately happened on the ground. Suspect aux has likely been bad and then main failed, but guessing as simultaneously having both fail is a low probability event.

Wow that's scary. I assume someone will do a teardown of the units to assess contamination from fuel or manufacturing debris , check wing tanks for contaminated fuel and check fuel lines for kinks. You don't state details leading up to the failure so it is difficult to suggest more. Failure of the main fuel pumps happen mostly when they are not replaced per Rotax guidance. I have seen this happen on Rotax powered aircraft that were converted to Experimental and the owner mechanics stretched operating hours beyond the Rotax recommended time.

Hi Ray & Lucy: Based in Venice FL. Had just made a flight the week before so this was a close one. Fortunately was a ground event. Now starting the aux pump and pulling the breaker for the main to test is a part of my preflight checklist. Yes: Josh has been helpful and it is good I am only 67NM from Sebring (by air, 2 hour drive...). Lockwood tested the pumps and replaced only one, then two flights later the one they did not replace failed as well. These are in a location where removal/replacement is a real PITA, even with an A&P son. Now having difficulty with some fuel leaks as the pumps have been in and out too many times and the fittings are now not sealing like new. Will get it solved but this has been going on now for 2 months...Sorry I am late in seeing your post! Too lax about checking in on Tecnam Talk. Craig

Craig thanks for the original post on this issue. After reading it I instituted the same preflight fuel pump check as you. Looking back it seems dumb that it took your incident to get us to add it to the preflight.
