Hey Buzz, I held out as long as I could on prescription glasses. I wore Costco readers for years. I finally took the plunge. I went right to Nikon Trifocal Progressive lenses. At first I hated them. It felt like I was spending too much time adjusting my head in order to bring things into focus. After a month or so finding focus just became second nature. I now wear the Trifocals full time. My wife had mono vision laser surgery done. One eye is for distance and one for reading. It took her a while to adjust. But she loves it now. I'm afraid to have it done because distance to the panel in my aircraft is somewhere between distance and reading. I'm curious to know if any of you pilots have had laser surgery and its affect on flying. Interesting. Glad you found something that works for you. I have never heard of what your wife had done. The thought of laser surgery gives me the creeps.

Did some flying in my 2016 Astore in the fall, then down for a couple of weeks while Garmin replaced my GPS20A which was causing irregular 'GPS receiver needs repair' error messages while still continuing to work otherwise flawlessly. My avionics tech returned it to Garmin for service, and they sent back a new one, saying they have had a bunch of issues with the 20A and it's easier to replace rather repair. Hoping to be back in the air this coming week.
Incidentally, with my new sailplane - an electric self-launch Jonker JS3 RES - coming early next year, I'll be selling the Astore to focus again on sailplane racing.

I did a round trip from Oklahoma City to Nashville and back over Thanksgiving week. Just so awesome flying the plane on these 4 hour+ jaunts. I did stop for fuel each wayโthe problem with the BNA class-c folks is they like to divert you 15-20 minutes out of your path. By that time itโs at reserve land and Iโm just not comfy being into my last quarter tank. Heading back into the west there are usually headwinds that can make it a five hour flight. But the plane and avionics are doing as designed, averaging 124-128 KTAS at 5460 rpms or so. But the burn is close to 7 gph at that RPM.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the passenger control stick in the p2008 without having adverse affect on the pilot controls?

Not being able to read the small font on the G3x is a common complaint. Not sure why it is so small compared to the G1000. Garmin had heard it from me many times. Feel free to let them know also!
On the nose wheel, yes it will turn sideways in flight if the friction is not set properly. Another common cause is out of balance wheels and tires. Some of the tires are produced in third world countries and are very low quality. We have found most take ALOT of weight to balance and some so bad we just return them to spruce. One of the reasons to go to Beringer wheels and brakes is so you can use a quality Michelin or Good Year tire.
The Sensenich prop is a good but the blades are usually not set very close from the factory. Using the pitch pins is just a starting point, then they should be fine tuned with a protractor and the whole prop balanced. If you do this you will see a very noticeable reduction in vibration and some increased performance.

My annual was completed in late December. I was able to fly the plane yesterday (holiday travel and weather had precluded doing so before now). Itโs just amazing when you take off, level out, then buzz around for an hour or so and check out all the systems. What remarkable machines we have!
Safe flying to all of you!
