Hi all! I am an A&P with Rotax cert and maintain a friend's Tecnam P2008. I looked in the service manual and could not fine a reference to this; what do you lube the seat tracks with? The seats on this plane are difficult to move, especially for an older student who is small in stature. I'm going to try to wax them, but the desperate flight instructor is wanting to put grease on them. I already smoothed any burrs. They are easy enough to remove that grease may be fine, but I am hesitant to muck up the interior like that.

I use a light coat of white lithium grease. Works great.

Most use the white lithium. I have not heard of it getting on the pilots clothes so I think it will work fine.

Revisiting this thread. I slid the seat too far back and it is now stuck in the full aft position. Anyone else experienced this? Any tips on getting it unstuck? The seat lever appears to be functional. I think it slid beyond the stop.

Check the clearance between the rear outside corner of the seat and the seat belt hardware. I had this happen when I had the seat recovered. Had to take a large hammer to drive the seat forward.

Then I coat a patch of cloth with heavy duty silicone spray and apply a liberal amount to the rails and guides. Let it dry and reassemble. I might have to do this a couple of times a year. Another tip is to lift your butt up removing some of the load when moving the seat. Tecnam did not design a good track system but concentrated on saving weight.....even Teflon linings in the guides would have been a big improvement. Good Luck mb

Fixed the seat today. It's the eyeholes for the mesh strapping that catch the end of the seat.
