Hi folks: Have any of you compared the Sling LSA and the P2008? The sling seems to be a equally fantastic aircraft.

The Sling LSA is well built and has no bad habits. Ingress and egress is annoying for those not young or limber. I see it more as a trainer or lease-back. I see the Tecnam P2008 as more of a "just downsized from a Cirrus" aircraft ... a luxury LSA one can fly into one's retirement.
I've owned an A36, 172S, T182T and SR22. The Tecnam P2008 is the most fun to fly. A joy really.

Agree with the Sling comments. One major difference is that Tecnam is a substantial Part 23 shop with a large commitment to the USA market. Consequently the Tecnam LSA lineup benefits with the quality of construction and the expectation that parts and service will endure. Not saying Tecnam couldn't improve with customer relations but I am saying they have a very high quality product.

The advantage I see with the Sling LSA is that it can also be ordered as an experimental with an IFR package and a MTOW of 1540 lbs. So you can legally order it as a Experimental, and fly it at the MTOW. The downside is that it does not offer the 914 Turbo.

I flew the sling in Lake Tahoe! A fantastic airplane ✈️ I really like the feel of the flight control easy and well balanced. I was considering it in my search for a plane I could fly into retirement the one I flew had the 912IS and amazing avionics. And yes its to bad it does not offer the Turbo 914. I settled on the P-2008 because of the cook factor being in Las Vegas the high wing is much better suited . Ray & Lucy ✅👍🏻🇺🇸✈️

The P2008 G3X avionics are comparable I believe. The heat is a problem but the Sling canopy opens up for taxiing. It’s a tough choice between the two as fully loaded pricing is similar. I do agree that Tecnam has a higher “pedigree” and a long history of LSA manufacturing.

RE: Sling. It's not an LSA nor a ELSA if the Max weight is over 1320lbs. You could do a builders assist and register it as an Experimental and fly it with a PPL but not as a Sport Pilot.

FYI Sling website shows an LSA model along with all the cool experimentals. If I could buy a Sling TSi off the shelf, that would be very tempting!

Owned a P2008 with a 914, and moved to a Sling Tsi. Both are fun to fly. The 915 is the best of both worlds, turbo and fuel injected. Tsi is about 25 knots faster. I do miss the high wing egress, I joke with my wife maybe we’ll switch to the high wing Tsi. She much prefers this plane to the P2008 in terms of comfort.
With the supply chain issues and build times, I think it will be a while before you see many low or high wing Tsi for sale.
As to the Sling 2, I know a few owners, and they love their planes. The option to go EAB and go to 1500+ gross weight is a huge feature.
I was very happy with the P2008, and even happier with the Tsi!

That is a beautiful aircraft. If I could afford a Tsi I would buy it as I have a PPL and no medical issues.
