I've done my research and decided the Tecnam P2010 with IO390 215 HP engine is for me and my flight missions. Dave Copeland from Tecnam US and Mark from Delta Aviation are great. I spoke to other Tecnam dealers and settled on Delta Aviation because Mark is more local to me than the others and really worked with me on my options and price.
Today I sent them a small refundable deposit. Tomorrow I have a demo flight. And three business days later I either send them the deposit balance, or cancel. Can't image the latter but we will see.
I plan to post my ongoing experiences here for others to follow.

Demo flight of the P2010 with 215 HP went well, Saturday. Very tight controls, very responsive, so I had to make some adjustments from the 16-20 year old 172s I've been flying. We flew from a 5900 foot elevation airport and 92 degrees F outside, so significant DA. About 600 lbs between us and fuel, and the plane still climbed almost 500 feet per minute. Easy to land but besure to keep the nose up.
It's a beautiful Italian airplane. Significant ramp presence and luxurious interior with the premium Italian leather. Great visibility with tinted side windows. Everything is within reach of the pilot.
I have made the decision to move forward and purchase this plane. Deposit has been wired so I'm all in and anxiously waiting on delivery.
Ordered in Ferrari Red on white with two Sapphire Blue strips running the length of the sides.

Well it's been two weeks since I ordered the plane and time is crawling by...!
I ordered a manual, the Aircraft Flight Manual of a similar configured plane, just to get a jump on the reading as I hate PDF files.
Back at the end of June I reserved a tail number and just yesterday I see online that it is now in my name, but I have yet to receive the paperwork. The FAA website says the process takes three weeks, looks like nine weeks is more accurate. Fingers crossed Delta Aviation (my dealer) and Tecnam will have enough time to use my tail number. Since I have no serial number yet and delivery is more than two months out, I'm hopeful they have the time!
I will continue posting my experiences here as they happen...

Received written "Confirmation of Reservation of United States Registration Number" from the FAA today for my personalized tail number.
Since I reserved the tail number in my personal name, and the plane will be owned and used by the corporation, I had to write a letter to the FAA authorizing my release of the tail number to my corporation. That release will be included in the purchase and registration paperwork submitted to the FAA at the appropriate time. I have sent all this paperwork to my dealer Mark Woods at Delta Aviation.
Since I have yet to receive a serial number on my plane, and it's not yet shipped from Italy to America (Sebring, FL) they should be able to put my tail number on the new plane when being built.
If all goes according to plan I'm about 2 months away from picking it up in Sebring, Florida, and flying it back to Southern California! Having trouble waiting...

Asked for an update from my dealer and Tecnam US rep on 9/15/21...
In the meantime, and before I obtain an insurance quote and pilot requirements for my new P2010, I'm building High Performance time in a 182.
Will post the update once received.

In the meantime, and before I obtain an insurance quote... Let us know if you need an insurance referral. I know some of us had a hard time finding someone to insure a Tecnam.

While I'm waiting for my plane...
I just ordered Garmin G1000 NXi Phase II simulator (software on USB) to start practicing...
Also, building High Performance time in an old 182J hoping it will reduce my new insurance cost.
And also keeping current with legacy G1000 in a 172.

Still waiting on an update from my dealer, but at the time I signed the contract delivery was scheduled for November, just five weeks away now!
I take delivery in Sebring, FL, and need to fly the airplane back to Fullerton, CA. KSEF -> KFUL is about 2000 miles so I'm planning to do it in three days.
I am seeking advice on my flight planning for those of you that like that kind of thing. I'm planning VFR day flights only, but may end up hiring a CFII to join me for some instrument training. Lots of MOAs and in most cases I will be under them, for those that I can't, I plan to skirt the border or simply cross, and in all cases I''ll ask ATC if they are "hot."
My current plan is depart KSEF, then KFPY KTLH 54J KNSE KMOB KBTR 5R8 KGTU KPEQ KELP KCGZ KGYR 10AZ KBNG and arrive KFUL.
Here is my DAY 1 plan:
Leg 1 depart 0800 KSEF KFPY KTLH 240nm 28g 1h55m
Fuel Food Bathroom
Leg 2 depart Noon KTLH 54J KNSE KMOB KBTR 354nm 41g 3h00m DAY 1 total = 594nm
Hanger plane at SIGNATURE
Your thoughts? I'll post Day 2 after some discussion...
Thanks

One recommendation before taking delivery... pay someone to put a coat of wax on your bird. (especially the belly). If you make the trip above without a freshly waxed plane, you will end up with exhaust stains that will be baked in to the paint and impossible to remove. In regards to the squawks you will find and the subsequent warranty requests with Italy, document everything. Pics, dates, times, etc. There are plenty of posts on here covering the process. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Your first day looks good to me. Having picked up two new planes I'd strongly add at least one or two full days of flying local Sebring areas before setting off on the cross country. If you can put 5 or 6 hours local before pushing off you will be much more rested when you start off and cleared up any mechanical/avionics issues while still at the factory rep. Its a lot easer process to fix something at time of delivery and have Technam accept the responsibility then and there. The documentation they require after sending you on the way can be very frustrating. Once you head off for home your leverage is gone.

The documentation they require after sending you on the way can be very frustrating. Once you head off for home your leverage is gone. Hi E-ELSA flyer, Wow! One of the best recommendations I have heard! Had I done this same thing. It would saved me two years of paying for all the repairs to my New Zero time P-2008 and they were numerous ……. Even thou my airplane is still under factory warranty Tecnam has denied 95% of my warranty claims….. and they all happened once I left for Las Vegas after my five hour check out and taking delivery……….. I am not sure the words FACTORY WARRANTY translates well from Italian to English? I had no idea factory warranty meant pay for and repair your aircraft at the owner’s expense……..The ADSB out was non Compliant from the day it left Sebring! I HAD NO IDEA! I had been flying in class B,C,D airspace for the last year and a half….. I got a call from the FAA telling me this aircraft had never been compliant. With travel expenses and repair costs it was over $4000.00 out of my pocket! Tecnam did pay $1150.00 towards the repair. But, don’t you think they should pick up the whole bill? And the list is long I think you guys get the point! They believe the customer really is the enemy……….. Make sure! To fly through controlled airspace and do an FAA compliance test for your ADSB out checked …. don’t get caught like I did! I had to get a special Flt permit to fly the airplane to the repair facility……… On a positive note Tecnam builds a beautiful Airplane that not only looks great 👍🏻 it flys like it looks! I picked up my new P2008 from Sebring and flew it to the Seattle area back in 2016. I made a 45 across the US so I cant advise on route but can say a few things. I agree with the advice from E-LSA Flyer. Spend some time flying around Sebring for a day or two and rack up some hours. This way you can give potential issues a chance to pop up and have Tecnam take care of them before you are half way across the US. I had a few things pop up one of which was serious. Yes you would think that since the plane is new it should be ready to go. This would be a bad assumption. When you take possession of the plane it wont have that much time on it. Planes are made by people and people can make mistakes or forget things. Since the 2008 is a ELSA I was only VFR like you said you will be. Make sure you plan extra time in the trip for weather delays. Going that far VFR without planning for weather delays is foolish. On my trip I lost two days to weather and one to a mechanical issue. Good inspection and lots of pics before taking over the plane. About your 1st leg... I assume you are not stopping at at KFPY and just flying over it and the first stop is KTLH? KTLH was my first stop as well then finished first day at KTCL. Please for your fellow Tecnam forum members and for those that follow you when you have the time it would be great to see a day by day run down of your trip home. We all learn from these stories just as you are asking right now. You don't have to do it while on the trip just sometime after would be great. If you look back on my account here you will see that I did the same. Best wishes and blue skies and tailwinds.

I am prepared to wait out weather delays. I hope to document my trip day by day. And I do plan a couple days of flying at Sebring to hopefully identify any issues...
