10 minutes into a 30 minute flight today my PFD went black and the autopilot disconnected. A few seconds later it re-booted and everything went back to normal. In the 7 years behind this panel I have never seen this. Has anyone else had this happen? Any idea on what happened? Perhaps it was a random one time event.

I had this problem eight years ago G3X support said it was seeing something it didn’t like and doing restarts. If I remember they had me install the latest software Ed

Have you ever replaced the secondary battery under the instrument panel? I assume you have an Astore? There is a gell cell battery under the left side panel that prevents PFD reboots at startup. If it's dead, that might be a contributing factor. It isn't a well documented feature and a typical LSRM or A&P would never find it. I believe the P2008 has one as well, position might be different.

I was not aware of a secondary battery under the panel. Are they easily accessible? *The reboot occurred in flight, not at start up. *I have a P2008.

Four years or so ago I had a similar thing happen after I installed an update. Had been flying 30 minutes or so then all gone. I was pondering what I might need to do when the little circular light appears on the PFD and everything came back to where I had it. I do not recall if I was using nav-autopilot at the time.
I did not have any subsequent issues.

I see you have a 912is. Although my post was specific to the Astore with the 912is/G3x configuration it might apply to your 2008. Tecnam had complaints with the G3x rebooting at startup when the current drop from the electric fuel pumps and the starter motor caused the voltage to fall. They responded by adding a small gell cell battery to maintain level voltage at starting. I don't know if they did the same with the P2008 and just didn't bother to update the IPC. In the Astore it's on the left side, interior firewall. Your experience acts like a low voltage incident which could be impossible to trace unless it repeats. Could be software, battery, generator, autopilot servo etc. Since you have the 912is you might download the BUDS logs as a start.

First reboot in 7 years, I'm going to chalk it up to a one time fluke. We'll see if it happens again...

Flown several hours since. No hiccups.
