It has arrived. Will fly with it tomorrow. But—first impressions: three levels of noise reduction is a positive. In the highest mode I don’t hear a thing external.
My only negative is that the cords themselves are a slimmer gauge: I do not know if that will really matter in the airplane.
The head comfort is good. Bose states that the overall comfort level of the headset is improved. I’m unsure if it is really different or not—it feels about the same after 30 minutes. The earphones are snug and align to my head-face: no apparent noise leakage, even with wearing my sunglasses.
With the blue-tooth: music test is excellent. I feel like I’m wearing my noise cancelling headset I use when flying commercial or simply ignoring current wife. The frequency range, clarity and sound reproduction is what you’d expect from a Bose: pretty much perfect. I did a com check (cell phone) with current wife—clear as a bell. All good for her on her end listening to me as well.
I’ll see how it does tomorrow. Nothing wrong with my A20–I’ve had it since 2015 and it works excellent. But it’s always good to give new technologies a look and see if they are worth it.

The new issue of AVIATION CONSUMER has a big in depth write-up on the Bose A-30. Lots of features are examined. Overall they seem to like it.

Flew for 3.6 hrs yesterday. New headset is worth the upgrade if you’re ready to replace an existing A20 or simply want a more comfortable fit. Noise Cancellation seemed marginally better—it is more about what frequencies it is diffusing than creation of an absolute white noise. So far, no issues or concerns.
