Originally in my aircraft the air compressor used to cut out at just over 10 bar. Over the next 250 hours I noticed that it gradually climbed to around 12 bar and the pump seemed to working much longer than normal. On investigating the compressor it was found to be worn out and had to be replaced.
The interesting thing is that the compressor is only rated at 150 psi continuous - so 12 bar is really too high. I have now adjusted my system back to 10 bar. The old compressor was a Viair 275C and the new one a Viair 200H
There are 2 questions here:
Why does the POH say the pressure can go to 12 bar (way above the pump rating)?
Why did the pressure cut out setting in my aircraft slowly increase?
