My P2008 discharges until the engine rpm is 2500. Trying to learn the G3X posed a problem so I found a 3 @ 10 Amp battery charger that you can buy on line for approx $ 200.00 and via an external Cessna type plug you can run your avionics and not discharge your battery. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time trying to learn how to use it with the aid of the 386 page manual. There is a web site "G3Xpert.com that has a wealth of videos but they are so short they don't cover the topic as well as I would have hoped. Happy Learning. There is such a variety of option, I hope to learn to use them

AVWeb has a webinar that Garmin put on that is an hour and forty minutes long. It's all about the G3X. You can find it here: G3X Webinar
It's very informative, with some great nuggets of information. I would suggest even watching it while you're in front of your G3X hooked to battery power.

I just purchased the same one as stroudj. Should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to play with the avionics without worrying about the battery.
Question....Is there anyway to power the panel without the main fuel pump running? Not sure if I am doing something worng.

If you have backup battery for the avionics, I think you might have to pull the fuse for that or it will drain the backup battery. Is there a fuse for the fuel pump you could pull as well?

I just pull the fuse for #1 fuel pump. Just be sure to reset before flying.
