Has anyone from the non-Beringer crowd experienced a dragging wheel? I've experienced this a few times now. It is intermittent, but sometimes the right-side brakes will not release. We drained the hydraulic lines at my last annual and that seemed to have solved the problem, but it returned last weekend. I'm heading to SouthTec tomorrow to diagnose it.

I’ve not had an issue with my P2008t. But, I had a recurring issue with a 2014 P92– and it was not fun. The left brake locked as I was landing and caused the plane to pivot hard almost 60 degrees to the left. I handled it like a go around and literally flew the plane (barely) off of the side of the runway. This was while I was training. My wife and her instructor had issues but not as severe. My instructor had a similar occurrence to mine a couple of weeks later after the system had been serviced and the group ceased using it for training. They were never able to determine why it happened— and they rebuilt/tore down the whole assembly a couple of times, but the problem kept coming back.

Replaced the Parking Brake Valve today. So far, so good. Problem appears to be solved. (PN: 06-17200)

Well, the problem has returned. It's on the left side now. Seems to start dragging whenever I have to make a hard left turn. I'm considering Beringers as a Plan B. Anyone else experiencing this?

Good luck with it. I’m hoping I don’t have any issues.

I e-mailed MATCO and they responded immediately. Here is their response:
"Any time you experience a dragging brake, the first thing to determine is if it is mechanical or hydraulic in nature. This can be determined when the brake is in the dragging state by opening the bleeder valve on the caliper momentarily. If you get pressurized oil out of the valve and the brake stops dragging, you have a hydraulic issue. If you get no fluid and the brake still drags, you have a mechanical issue.
If it is mechanical, you need to determine what is preventing the caliper to float freely. When pressure is not on the caliper, it should be able to move inboard-outboard in the brake plate to release torque and remain centered about the disc. The running clearance is small, 0.010 inch or so.
If you find the issue is hydraulic, you need to determine what is blocking the flow. Typically the suspects are the vent on the reservoir, the park brake valve, or the shaft on the master cylinder. The vent has to be open to atmosphere. The park brake lever has to be set in the correct range for open and close. There is a drawing with the PV that shows the open, close, and transition zone. Be sure the lever is correctly positioned when you command it to open or close and not positioned in the transition zone. (Note that Tecnam has the level positioned on the cam shaft of our PVPV-D unit 180 degrees from the default orientation shown on our drawings). In reference to the MC shaft, there is a bypass valve in the cylinder that allows the hydraulic system to self adjust for pad wear and fluid temperature changes. The bypass is open when the shaft is fully extended and closes with the first 1/6 inch or so of shaft travel. It is imperative that the shaft be allowed to fully extend when at rest. If the shaft is partially deflected, it will block flow and can trap pressure in the hydraulic system. The MC has an internal spring that will urge full extension but if there is more drag in the pedal linkage than the spring can overcome or if the clevis is adjusted too far out, the shaft may be partially stroked and the bypass is closed. The problem can come from either pilot or copilot cylinders."
