Hi Glenn, I was wishing I had saved a copy of 5.9. Is that version still available on Garmin's site? I'll do it if I can get a copy. Thanks, John John, I've emailed the 5.9 zip file to the address you gave me a while back. Glenn

Glenn, On second thought, if the PC version of 6.2 didn't fix the problem, it's possible, but unlikely that 5.9 would fix it. I think that's why Garmin decided to send a new unit. They likely believe that, whatever the glitch, my GDL-39R is toast. John

Glenn, Just saw your post. I'll give 5.9 a try before I install the new GDL-39R. I'll post my results here and notify Garmin Tech Support as well. Thanks, John

Follow up: All systems go. 5.9 did not resolve the problem. Garmin is convinced that an error in the 6.2 download process led to a critical error during the subsequent upload to the GDL-39R. To their credit, they warrantied the product. All of my future software updates will be via my PC.

Ran into a problem. MFD updated no problem, PFD wouldn't reboot when I pushed back button, so I restarted the units. Then I got a "software updating" message for the radios, and they would flicker on and off. Got instructions from Garmin on how to force a fresh install of the operating system. Plan to reformat the cards, and re-install.

Noticed your V speeds on your screen are set different as mine... looks like your Vy is set at 78 and Vx is 65. Is that what I'm seeing? My POH shows Vy at 69 (IAS) and Vx at 63 (IAS). PS - this is a for P2008.
Probably worthy of a separate post...
These can be adjusted in the Config menu.

I just can’t make out a 10 knot difference in Vy when you have more available power at hand with the 914. I’m confused. I’d really like an accurate statement on the V speeds for the 2008.

Went back to the hangar, rebooted the G3X, and all good. Checked the radios with ATC, flipped frequencies, etc. All working on the ground!
