Yesterday I went on a short flight to check out the new GPS 20a. I flew over to Kennedy Space center and overflew the Shuttle Landing Facility at 1,500 feet. The runway is 15,000 feet long and 300 feet wide. To get a feel for the scale you will see a full size space shuttle parked on the left hand side about halfway down the runway. That's about the same time my hand pops into the picture (I'm not much of a videographer). You can skip the first part of the video and go to the 5:40 mark to see the runway.

Sweet! Is that a GoPro or VIRB? How is it mounted?

It’s actually an old NFlightCam on a suction cup mount on the upper left portion of the windshield. I was also using the gopro handheld. I recorded the audio separately on a little voice recorder and put them together afterwards.

Nice video. By the way, get a neutral density filter if you want to reduce or eliminate the prop arcing through the video.

Glenn—can you give a little more detail on what kind of filter you are recommending?

Hey Tony that's a cool video. I had no idea you could fly over the space center like that. A few years back I did the tour at the center and got to see the second to the last shuttle launch.

Glenn—can you give a little more detail on what kind of filter you are recommending? Hi Tony, The ND filter reduces the amount of light entering the lens and forces the camera to slow the shutter speed. This really helps to reduce and sometimes eliminate the visible prop arcing thru the picture. Here's youtube video that shows the effect: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU68ShOCfyMGlenn

Buzz, Orlando Approach will give you permission for the low pass if there is nothing going on at malfunction junction. Did it a few times in my DA 42.
