I went last year and it was a pretty good show even if Tecnam wasn't there. Anybody going? Would love to meet some of the Tecnam owners in the area. DeLand Sport Aviation Expo

Mark, will Tecnam be there this year? PS - It's on my calendar.

I will be there Friday to check out the Gyroplanes. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate tomorrow so I’ll be there too. I’ll be wearing my Tecnam hat. Check your messages.

The show seemed to be pretty well attended on Saturday but quiet on Friday. I think a lot of that was due to the very windy weather. Most of the light sport manufacturers were there offering rides although Tecnam did not attend. They set up a temporary tower with two intersecting runways in use on Saturday while the usual parachuting activity was also going on. It made for an entertaining couple hours watching all the activity. They have an announcer that gives some color on the planes and the companies while you can sit on some bleachers and enjoy the show. There are two forum tents with speakers most of the day. The most interesting presentation was in the main show tent from the local TV weatherman who is also a pilot. He talked about some local weather issues including the issue of fog which is our morning nemesis here. The Zenith guys had some classes going on for home builders like they did at Oshkosh. Lots of home builders in attendance including the local EAA chapter who are heavily involved in the show. There are a couple long tents full of vendors selling everything from avionics to propellers to magazines. Pretty much everything was aviation related so it was easy to spark up a conversation with the booth staff. The show can easily be done in one day. Very nice little show for light sport specific airplanes.

Thanks for the report. Interesting that you posted an Icon picture. Looks like the Icon folks are slugging it out for sales at the local shows now.
I still wonder if there's enough long term interest for two shows, Deland and Sebring. Seems to be so far!

The Icon had a crowd every time I looked. It’s a great looking plane.
I’ve never been to the Sebring show but hope to get there next year.
