All being done in SportAir in Little RockDavid, Hey that's great news. What ADS-B equipment did you decide on and maybe tell us the installed cost? I know there are many choices that work with the G3X. Glenn

Wow, that is great! I think this is the first chute add on after manufacture for a P2008. Certainly the first one I've seen.

It was an interesting process...I have been working with Josh (Director of Maintenance- Tecnam US) who is an awesome guy to work with and he stated that he had 2 other customers that wanted chutes installed. However, they were not "pre-harnessed" so they had to take off the wings and it was a much bigger job. Tecnam imports the Galaxy chutes through the guys a SportAirUSA in Little Rock..so I just decided to go there since Sebring had never installed one before. Italy has a painfully detailed "job card" on the process which made me feel comfortable with the install. It seems that there were many versions of the P2008 - some with bridles, some with bridles and chute box. I guess somewhere along the way, Tecnam eliminated some pieces to save weight. Mine had the bridles, but no box ( I had to take pictures of the tail behind the battery box so we could figure out what I had).
The chute is going to be around $7.5k installed. It is the Galaxy GRS 6/600 SD that is the same chute that comes with the factory installed P2008s.
ADSB wise all I needed was the GPS 20A which is going to be $1200 installed.
I thought I would be cool and get the recently reinstated $500 rebate. However, when I tried to sign up, I get the following message:
"N555PT was detected transmitting Link Version 2 ADS-B prior to the start of the rebate program and is not eligible to participate"
So I'm guessing the GTX 23ES was transmitting data - but just not accurate data without the GPS 20A WAAS? I ran a few FAA ADSB test when I first got the plane and failed them.
So short story long - I got both the Chute LOA and 20A LOA approved and the installation is proceeding.
I can't say enough about the Director of Maintenance - Tecnam US Josh Noel. He has been helping me through every step along the way - the dude was even returning emails while on vacation.

David,
I assume they'll weigh your plane when all that is finished so you'll have an accurate weight and balance sheet.

The chute on my 2015 P2008 is one of the few factory installed setups. I donโt understand why Tecnam, like Icon did, doesnโt get a max weight adjustment reflecting the enhanced safety capability and make a BRS standard equipment as does Cirrus. There is no performance loss-itโs a 1,450+ mtgw airplane per its designโjust a trade off to the 1320 lb standard put in place for toothpick airplanes.
As to the costโfor those buying new, is the cost of a BRSโif there is no weight penaltyโthat big a deal? Tecnam is the Cirrus of the U.S. certified LSA market: they need to start aggressively marketing to that advantage.
