Thinking of making the transition to LSA. P2008, Astore and others on the evaluation list. I found a P2008 POH online describing VNO and VNE as 106 and 134 respectively. Wondering if any of the Astore owners are willing to share the numbers for the Astore? Thanks!

My P2008 has a VNE of 145kts. I don’t remember the exact VNO but it’s around 115kts. Ed

Not what you are asking for, but the P2008 POH was revised to a VNO of 113 KIAS and a VNE of 145 KIAS.

P2008 VNE 145 VNO 113 ASTORE VNE 148 VNO 115
Max cruise speed between the two are very similar. P2008 is not slower than the Astore as many assume. With the 914 both planes are very close to 130 kts TAS and IAS of 120 kts with the prop in cruise setting.
I have flown basically all the LSAs and the Tecnam P2008/Astore w. the 914 have been the fastest. The Arion lightning was the closest but still about 5 knots slower.

Thanks to all for your insight- this is helpful. I drive a Beech Sundowner with a VNO of 136kts indicated but with only the carb O-360 I usually have to run 2550 to get 116-118 indicated. It's a great IFR platform but just a little slower than I like. The powerflow exhaust helps some up high but generally its 116 TAS up around 6-8,000. Thanks!

I love the Sundowner - one of the first planes I flew regularly after getting my PPL. Great plane, super stable. Good landing gear and shock absorbers too. But you’re right about it being slow... Mark is correct about these LSAs. I regularly saw close to 130 knots true in my Astore at altitude. You can cover a lot of ground in either Tecnam. Plus the G3X avionics are great!

Well, it's been an eventful 10 days. First, thanks to Mark for indulging an average stick to try on a P2008 and at least sit in an Astore. It was quite a day especially after seeing a turbo P2008 true out at 127kts at 5,500 beating my Sundowner by 11-12kts easily. Second, I heard from the previous owner of my Sundowner yesterday expressing an interest in buying it back. Maybe coincidental, maybe karma. For now the bar has been set with the Tecnam and we'll see where the discussions go with the potential buyer for the Sundowner. Anyone planning to attend the Midwest LSA Expo this year?

I just checked, and the Midwest LSA Expo is Sept. 5-7 this year. I would like to go, but not likely to have the time.
Any chance you're going to Oshkosh?
