Hey y'all,
As a new owner what are some of the things that my Dad and I should be aware of? What kind of regular maintenance intervals should we conscious of? What about engine maintenance? Do they need a 100 hour check-up? Also, what kind of warranties are included in the purchase of a P2008? What kind of warranty is there on the Rotax engines, Garmin avionics, ect?
Thanks y'all!
Drew

There are 64 total hours on the airplane but I don't know how many are on the engine. It had an annual in April with about 50 hours on it.

Here's your answer:
Guide to Aircraft Inspections
In addition to the ones mentioned above, Tecnam requires a 25 hour inspection on the P2008. Details of the requirements can be found in Section 3 of the Line Maintenance Manual.

PS - Oil change intervals are based on the type fuel you are using... See Rotax Service Instruction SI-912i-001.

Warranty terms vary. You can pay extra to extend the time periods. They are transferrable. Ask Mark how go about that.

You have to do a 100 hr inspection on all 912/914 engines. The 100 hr inspection is quite extensive and at every 200 hrs you have to add a carb overhaul and a compression check. I suggest that you down load all of the manuals from the Rotax website (its free). I also suggest that you join the Rotax Owners website, they have a lot of videos that cover how to do much of the services. When you brought your P2008 it should have had a DVD that has all of your manuals on or go their website to down load their manual. If you use your P2008 for hire you will need to do a 100 hr condition inspection. If you are not using your aircraft you can do an annual inspection, the inspection are the same. For both inspection you have to pull all of your inspection panels (about 15) and remove the seats and all of the interior panels. You will have to have an A&P or a Light Sport Repairmen to do the work. You can do owners inspection (oil check, tires and lights) I just finished an annual inspection on my own P2008 it took me about 4 days to do it all. If you have any question please ask.

where did you guys hear that it is possible to extend the warranty? I thought that wasn't the case because of reinsurance issues ... thanks!

I only get the remaining warranty on mine, which is about 18 months ...but I have pinged Shannon to see if I can purchase an extended one. Perhaps Mark knows the answer too.

The 100 hr inspection/condition is only done if your acft is used for hire. If you do not use your acft for hire just the annual inspection is required regardless of hrs the acft is flown per year.
The Rotax engine requires an inspection every 100 hrs.

I spoke with a Rotax A&P and he strongly suggested being familiar with what the mfg. (Tecnam) requires. Apparently If you don't follow the manufacturers maintenance regulations, you void your insurance coverage. So my question to the board is what does Tecnam require and who do they require to perform the maintenance and inspections (an A&P or a Rotax certified mechanic)?
