So I hear over in Europe, Tecnam has the Astore rated for 1,600 lbs. But here in the States the POH says 1,320 lbs. simply to comply with LSA regulations. Can anyone confirm that? Is the Astore really capable of much more useful load than the USA POH leads us to believe?

Interesting. What's the source of that information?

The P2008 is is rated for a higher weight under EASA, and you can review that paperwork. I have never heard that the Astore has a higher weight rating.

Yeah, the P2008 under EASA is 1433 pounds gross. Astore is unfortunately 1,320 pounds. I feel like a lot of LSA’s manufactures love to mention this but don’t provide documentation to back it up. It gives a false of security and makes it seem ok to depart in an Astore at 1,550 pounds because “others” are doing it.

Heard it from a Tecnam dealer. He even said that he loaded up the plane to 1,600 pounds and took off from an extra long runway out of caution and the takeoff distance was greatly extended, but it made it up in the air just fine.

I'm sure his insurance company would be pleased to know it's now OK.
