I'm new to the Tecnam having taken delivery of my 2018 turbo in August. Took a local sight seeing flight in NE Wisconsin yesterday to view the fall colors. Ground temp was about 45 degrees, @5500' it was 24 degrees. The heater seemed to work OK but the wind from the rear vent was cold. Any suggestions on a damper for the vent and is it considered important to keep fresh air coming in to restrict any exhaust carbon monoxide infiltation? mb

I covered mine up in the winter when I flew. Plenty of air movement in the cabin still imho.

Interesting issue. You actually have a noticeable flow of air into the cabin from that vent? I have never heard of that being an issue. I know on my plane there are some holes through the floor directly below the rudder peddles where some linkage arms go though and I get air in that way from outside. No I don't think that keeping a continuous flow of air through the plane is a real big issue but of course if you want to vent smoke, gases, odor, or heat, you need an out going vent otherwise you get dead air. Also you might turn one door window vent into the wind and the other pointing back as an exhaust point. As far as the CO goes I would never say never but I think CO is not as big an issue as planes that heat the cabin with a shrouded exhaust like a C-172. The heat in the P-2008, at least in my plane comes from a small coolant radiator/fan not anything having to do with exhaust. Of course this is assuming that all penetrations of the firewall are sealed off. That being said Iam planning on putting an in panel Aither CO detector that displays on my Dynon Skyview screen. Off the top of my head if I was to try and remedy something like this I might try to come up with a hinged flap on the backside of the vent that only allows exiting air pressure from the cabin out, but is forced closed by pressure coming from the empennage. I am sure it would take some trial and error. As I said interesting issue and if you come up with a way of regulating that vent please share.
