I am very picky about taking care of the windows. I try to limit the amount of rubbing on them. I don't like scratches. I first use compressed air to blow off any grit. I use a generous amount of Plexus spray. If the window has bug guts on it I let the Plexus soak in a little while to soften up the bugs. This again to limit amount of rubbing. I use a microfiber cloth that gets washed regularly and is only used for cleaning the windows. On the outside I generally spray the Plexus on the window. On the inside I use a different cloth and I usually spray the Plexus on the cloth first. When the plane is sitting in the hanger I keep the front windscreen covered to prevent dust from settling on it thus reducing needed cleaning.

Agree with all the excellent the cleaner tips. One DO NOT item: If you wash your plane with a soap bucket and a hose, absolutely, positively, do not let the soap or rinse water dry on the canopy. Either blow it off or dry it immediately with a cotton or microfiber towel. Hard water spot residue is a bear to remove! Especially in FL if it's raw irrigation sourced.

Plexus and microfiber here as well. +1 on Plexus. For me, it's a 2 step process. 1. Spray with Plexus and gently wipe with Sontara Aircraft Window Wipes. 2. Spray with water and wipe with a soft microfiber. 5 years old and no scratches.

Does anyone clean in a certain direction, I.e. up and down instead of round swirls?

Tip from my friends at COPA ... the Cirrus owners site.
1. Fill bottle with tap water ... old Gatorade bottle works nicely. 2. Pour water on window and rub lightly with hand (make sure you have no rings on that hand). 3. Then use Plexus and microfiber.
Reason for first rinsing with water and bare hand is to remove any dust, grit or bird droppings before applying Plexus.
Also, if you park outside and use a custom cover, make sure the cover's underside is free of grit. Also watch out for cover's plastic attachments, which can whip around in the wind and hit the windows.

I also refresh my micro fiber frequently. There is also a product called Novus. They make three levels of cleaner. #1 for general Plexiglas cleaning, #2 for fine scratch removal and #3 for heavy scratch removal. As light scratches are pretty much inevitable over time you might consider having this product on hand. I keep a small bottle of #1 and 2 with my cleaning supplies. mb
