Folks, the placard for my 2015 P2008 tc fuel says 13.1 gallons each tank. That’s 26.2 gallons. But then there is ‘fact’ that when I am empty, and I fuel to the top, I get 16 gallons in each side. 32 gallons. Hmmmmm
The key is that the fine friendly folks in Italy looked at how many fluid litres they build the tank to hold, then converted that to Gallons-the British Imperial type.
26.2 imperial gallons is 31.46 standard US gallons.
So there you go!

Thanks for info never even gave it thought that there would be 2 different gallon measurements. Just out of curiosity how did you empty your tanks all they way ? Take line from electric fuel pump off engine and drain using selector valve.

Hi
This P2008 fuel capacity question is extremely important for a lot of reasons. How can we demonstrate this error to Tecnam to get an amendment to our pilot operation handbooks? Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
For the record, filling up the wing tanks isn’t proof. Tecnam will state that the error is on our side - our measurements are inaccurate.
Thank you!
Eric

What is the issue you are looking to have Tecnam correct?

What is the issue you are looking to have Tecnam correct? Hi ChiMikke One import issue is that if someone is using the POH for flight planning information in the US their flight time before fuel exhaustion would be incorrect. I always used fuel capacity in my past aircraft as a means of calculating when to refuel - flight safety is job number one. The POH, as you well know, is the ultimate guide for plane information and guidance. Tecnam should be able to answer this simple question - In the POH are they quoting in Imperial gallons or US gallons.

I think the answer is in the EASA documents in the Tecnam parent website which describes the P2008 JC - it has the same dimensions as our aircraft. The European filing has a useable amount of fuel as 32US gallons and total fuel as 32.76US gallons. I would have downloaded the document but my computer skills are limited. - maybe one of the administrators can download the document.

Just in case you’re interested, as I’m sure you are, Tecnam is now updating its information about fuel storage in our planes - the new number is approximately 32 US gallons useable fuel.

One thing I’ve noted when I refuel at waypoints and the fuel guy does all the work—I never plan on having more than 30 gallons, even when they “top-off”.

I agree, they always leave it a gallon short in each tank. Probably afraid of spilling down the wing. Ed
