Anyone planning on attending this coming weekend in Nashville? US Aircraft Expo
Looks like Tecnam will be there.

Every next airplane I probably can't afford is going to be there!

I was there on Saturday, Flocker. Nice display, if fairly small. The format meant that the vendors were happy to talk. Highlights for me:
- Mike Mabry of Gulf States Aircraft Sales was there with a P2010. I didn't know he now had the gulf states region for Tecnam sales. Mike recommended SouthTec Aviation as a maintenance resource. I was not aware they were a Tecnam authorized service center. I may have to check them out, since Charlotte is a lot closer to my Nashville location--and more convenient for commercial flights home--compared to other options.
- DiamondShares (Lifestyle Aviation) had a DA40 there. It's a whole other thing, but that own-and-share model is really compelling to me. I did something similar way back when with a Cirrus, figuring out all the insurance and structure on my own. I'd love to get into something like that again if I found the right "sharers."
Of course, there were Vision jets, Piper turboprops, rugged Kodiaks, etc. Nice to look at but not in my future, those.

I too thought the Diamondshare program was interesting. Just not enough of the Share planes around. I think they need more owners who share, not more of those that want to share from owners. Did they have a DA42 and DA62 there? And what did you think?

Grant,
Sinclair Aviation Maintenance at the Portland TN airfield— 1M5 does Rotax work and is who I’m doing my annual with in December.
He is worth checking out. He just fixed a turbo waste gate issue for me.
The maintenance group at Smyrna —Hollingshead—also claims to work on Rotax but I don’t trust them.

Nice on Sinclair. Let me know how it goes in December. I’m due in April so time to learn from your experience!

Chimike, May I ask what issues you were having with your Turbo Waste Gate and how many hours on the engine before the problem occurred …. Ray & Lucy ✅👍🏻😊🇺🇸✈️

If carbon deposits or lead deposits get inside the housing for the wastegate mechanism that can cause the wastegate to not move freely. It will either be too open or too closed and it cannot function in a safe manner.
I don’t know if there is a specific number of hours, the best way to prevent it is not to use avgas. Also using the turbo four for five minutes at a time is recommended so that it gets hot enough to hopefully burn off the deposits.
If the issue occurs the turbo has to be opened so that the wastegate is exposed: then use of a penetrating solvent to break up the deposits.
