I've started looking into the insurance availability and pricing in anticipation of taking delivery of a new P2008 early Spring. For my Cirrus in later years I carried $3m smooth coverage and more in excess coverage. I used the same broker to look for possible policies for the Tecnam and was quoted options from AIG and IAT. Both for $1m in liability and $100K for each passenger, ie not "smooth." AIG $4500 IAT $2900. IAT would go to $2m/$250K for $3,300. But the IAT policy would require me to have some training hours with a CFI with 15 hours in the make and model....I don't know how many of those folks exist.
I'm curious if anyone flying the P2008 has smooth coverage and if so whether you were able to obtain it in your first year of P2008 ownership? Maybe there's a good company out there that my broker didn't reach out to.
Thanks.

The passenger liability is a problem for all of us. I have over 6K hours and an instrument rating and I can’t get more than 100K passenger coverage. The fact that I’m 77 could be part of it. Ed

Thanks I'll give Falcon a call. I understand they work with a lot of Tecnam owners. John to answer your question, last year my $2m smooth policy with a Cirrus hull value slightly higher than I'm asking for here was $4,300. To be fair that was a year ago and I don't know what they'd quote today in the same market. My excess policy was in addition to that.
