How much have any of you spent for replacement brake pads?
Current Make of Brakes: Marc Ingegno (original OEM).
P2008 2015 sn# 101.
My annual in December: we need to replace those pads during the first half of the year. But we can’t locate them. So I said I would.
After several attempts to Sebring—with no responses to my emails to their parts desk (and no responses from the OEM company in Europe) I was today able to order pads that ‘they are pretty sure are what I’m looking for’ according to Josh.
$845. One set of pads.
This is my first rodeo ordering pads. 500 hours on the plane. Anyone else ordered OEM pads, and what was your experience/cost?
At some point you just pay what you have to—to get it done, but it seems a bit high. And I won’t know absolutely for sure these are the correct pads until I receive them.

Wish you had Beringer’s i have a complete set new in the pack $140.00 both mains ….. some day down the road you may want to up grade the Beringer brake system. I am sure you have heard all about them…….. they are worth every Penney! Your present set went five years which is really good so if you figure cost per year its not to bad…….. Any way glad you found a set! Ray & Lucy 👍🏻😊✈️✅🇺🇸🇺🇸

After several attempts to Sebring—with no responses to my emails to their parts desk. $845. One set of pads. The Parts employee left. They are in the process of hiring a replacement. That may explain the lack of response. $845 is excessive. Does that include rotors, master cylinders, etc. too?!

I will know what I receive when I receive it. Should be the first of the week.
It has been an adventure even getting them to respond to my request. I will let you know what they sent me when I get it!

I did receive the OEM brake pads. That is all that was sent. They are shiny and pretty. I’m not sure if I want to actually install them on the plane or just keep them in a glass case.

Hey, I just wanted to clarify for those of us in the back of the class:
Did you spend over $1600 to replace left and right inner and outer pads?
I just did a quick "Back of the envelope," check and Cleveland states that PN 066-10600 works for that aircraft and RAPCO makes their budget version (PN: RA066-10600) for like $8.00 for a single lining.
Doesn't APPEAR that those come with rivets, but to buy all the rivets, four pads and even the tool to R&R the pads from Spruce, if you didn't have it, seems so far out of line with the price you mentioned that I just want to find out what I'm missing with this thread.
Thanks for your time!

The set had both a left and right pair.
I agree on the alternatives—I’m not sure that going outside the OEM is recommended—I’m going to upgrade to Beringers once their supply chain limitations are no longer an issue.

Hi Ronin, They actually look pretty good 👍🏻 I got about 200 hours and change out of my first set of pads. Hope to do a little better with my second set I try and use as little braking as possible I am sure you do the same 😊 Flaps are definitely cheaper than new brake pads 👍🏻 Ray & Lucy ✈️👍🏻👍🏻😊🇺🇸😎 LSRM

Flaps are definitely cheaper than new brake pads Asking as a mechanic who's not yet a pilot: How do you use flaps to reduce brake pad wear? When I drive around for a run-up, I almost 100% use brakes to steer. That's low speed where rudder input doesn't seem to have any real say in which direction I'll turn. Does flap position help with low speed taxi control? If so, will you talk about it here?

Hi nohippchicks,
When I was speaking about Flaps, I was speaking about landing the airplane get the airspeed down as low as you can and use as little braking as possible. During Taxi you have to use your brakes ( as you already know )Taxi with the castering nose wheel. The whole point is be as easy as you can to prolong the life of the brake pads and rotors.
So you working on your certification thats great! 😊 are you getting close?

Ray & Lucy,
Thanks for that information! I'm not quite getting close. Working on ground while I deal with a more than full time job, a little one and moving into a new house. Hardly leaves time for a deep breath, let alone getting my wheels off the ground!
