After a flight in the 914, what RPM do you Run it at for the turbo cool down. I’ve been using about 2000 RPM for a minimum of two minutes and that’s after taxie back to the hanger

As I recall the operating instructions for the 914 state that the engine should be run for ‘2minutes’ at idle prior to shutdown. This presumes 5-10 minutes of low power descent, landing, and taxiing to your parking location. The reality is more about the oil temp prior to shutdown and draining the oil back out of the turbo, so the lower the better and the closer to 50C the better when you shut down. If it takes 5 minutes or more at your parking location to get under 70C and heading towards 50C, take it.

My aircraft idles at 1700 rpm. I don’t like to run it that low due to the wear on the gear box.

I think the recommendation is 2500 for two

I’m usually at 2100-2250 when I am doing a cool down idle.
