Has anyone changed their Ducati rectifier in a 2008 ? I would’ve figured the bolt s go into rivnuts on the firewall, but that’s not the case. The bolts just spin. What’s the best way to get out behind the firewall to hold the nuts while you remove the bolts. Remove the G3X screen??

I used a long 1/4” extension with a helper on the outside. I then put nuts on the bolts and tightened them tight against the firewall. Then install the regulator with two more nuts holding it down. This will hold the regulator off the firewall and allow cooling air behind the regulator. I did it five years ago and don’t remember if I installed longer bolts. More than likely I did. Also I always had trouble with the voltage climbing over15 volts. Recently I ran a separate breaker, switch and wire to the top terminal ( I believe it’s the “C” terminal)of the regulator and disconnected the Generator switch wires. It charges 13.8 all the time now. The regulator senses the voltage at the C terminal to determine how much voltage is required. Something in the way Tecnam wired the Gen switch must be giving it a false signal. For what ever reason what I did works. Also make sure the spade connectors are nice and tight especially on the two lower yellow wires. If not they can get hot. Call is you need help 630 254 2338 cell Ed

Funny you mention the B&C rectifier. I have asked everyone about this and read everything I could about it. Everyone I have spoken with said it’s expensive , 300 bucks but you will never have another problem again. The Ducati is a ticking time bomb. I can’t confirm nor deny that this is the part I’m going to replace my Ducati with. The B&C would require an LOA which won’t happen because the Ducati is still what Rotax uses. In regards to my question. There doesn’t seem any good way to reach the nuts on inside the firewall.

The LOA is a big irritation and as you said, Tecnam is not likely to approve this even if it is better. Ed's thicker and better windshield will run into this.
The EXPERIMENTALS have a distinct advantage. Some S-LSA owners don't bother to ask the manufacturer for the LOA.
