Is there a minimum octane level required for MoGas use? You can download the 912iS operating manual, maintenance manuals, and even the installation manual here: 912iS Manuals

Since Gami 100, or G100 as they call it, is a drop in replacement for 100LL I think as soon as distribution is figured out, G100 will replace 100LL. Once distribution is in place all they have to do is drop G100 in to the same airport storage tanks/trucks as the 100 low lead and presto, lead is gone, and we have a new avgas. Of course, we'll all need to buy an STC... +-$200

I use them all regularly. I forgot to mention... the IPC is also an invaluable resource. Put them all on your iPad and carry them with you on every flight.

George Braly estimates when G100 hits the market it will probably cost around 85 cents more per gallon than 100LL as the fuel leaves the producers facility. G100 weighs about 6.2 pounds per gallon compared to 6 pounds per gallon 100LL (but slightly higher BTU content). George says STC pricing will be in line with other fuel Supplemental Type Certificates and will depend on the engine's horsepower. Whatever the final STC price is, George Braly and Gami deserve every penny. Years of work and mountains of money developed the fuel in spite of all the industry roadblocks. gami.com/g100ul/g100ul.php or you can visit BeechTalk.com and learn more about the fuel and the man.

Aircraft owners can now purchase the STC for G100UL from GAMI. stc.g100ul.com/

Is it required to have the STC in order to make the purchase?

There will be no FAA Inspector at the gas pumps and I doubt the FBOs will care one way or the other. But most agree that an aircraft can't legally be operated with G100UL unless the STC has been purchased for that registration number. Also insurance coverage could be in question.
I haven't checked yet but I'm hearing most GA aircraft are about $2 per horsepower per engine.

In the case of Tecnam-Rotax aircraft, which mandate no-lead fuels already, will it be necessary for those aircraft?

I completed the online order for the G100UL STC for my 2022 Tecnam P2010 with IO-390 engine and the total was $425. I'm going to wait on making the purchase until I actually see the G100UL fuel popping up...

Lol. At $425 for a sticker saying I βcan doβ what the manufacturer already tells me I am supposed to do (No-lead fuel,) Iβll take my chances or just keep using alcohol free 93 no-lead mogas as I currently do.

Iβm not sure we need and STC. Wouldnβt it be an LOA from Tecnam. We should probably investigate this further. Iβve just finished an eleven month project for a new windshield and itβs not possible for me to get an STC for it. I converted my P2008 to E LSA so I can install it but anyone with an S LSA would have to get a LOA which Iβm sure Tecnam would not issue one. Ed

This is a good discussion. I think Ed is correct and I stand corrected.
Just thinking out loud...
It makes sense that an STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) does not (can not?) apply to an S-LSA because there is no TYPE CERTIFICATE. You can't supplement what doesn't exist.
However, it seems G100UL fuel conforms to, and meets or exceeds, the minimum fuel specifications called for by Rotax and Tecnam. It's at least as good as non-ethanol premium Mogas. But an LOA from Tecnam would remove any doubt.
As G100UL becomes available and 100LL is phased out, I hope Rotax and Tecnam will provide explicit guidance.

I agree, Glenn.
Of course, itβs the Government. So βyouβre not but you have to anywayβ isnβt out of the possibilities.
