"From the Line Maintenance Manual: Seal the junction between fuselage and wing leading edge with mastic Totalseal 34 White A00062."
Has anyone had to replace the mastic? I noticed a small split in the mastic on one of the leading edges yesterday.

According to Tecnam, any 3M Polyurethane sealer will do the trick. The mastic is strictly cosmetic with some water sealing properties. The split I have is pretty small, I may wait and see how it goes. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes this seems to happen to all the 2008s eventually. Yes it is just cosmetic. I've seen some try to touch up and it would have looked better if they would have just left it. You have to match the mastic color also.
Can you post a picture?

I would not be too concerned, when the annual inspection is done the inboard leading edge has to be removed and resealed.

I removed the two leading edge panels and installed rubber V trim. I'll see if I have a picture to post. Ed

Great Idea, what is your source for the V seal?
Thanks,

Ed, I test flew a 2010 P2008 that had v type seals, perhaps Tecnam used to use them? and the reason I remembered is that in-flight one came loose and started flapping, sounded really serious so we landed at the nearest airport. No damage just some black marks, maybe yours fit tighter, just thought I'd past that on in case you ever hear that rapid banging.

This is the Aircraft Spruce part number. I used a beed of rubber trim cement in the groove. I have about fifteen hours with no problems. Ed Attachments:

Ed I was killing time, reading some old posts and have also wondered what causes a picture to rotate. I can't say that I exactly know the reason, but... It seems that whenever this happens it's always a picture that was taken with an phone. So my guess is it may depend on if the phone was held vertical or horizontal when the picture was taken. This photo's properties says it was taken with an iphone 6.

Different location but similar cosmetic issue: on my Astore, I noticed a small split in the top coat paint/sealer where the steps on both sides go through the fuselage; approx 1mm movement fore and aft on the step appears to be the cause. After checking very thoroughly with Sebring as to how firmly the steps are mounted inside the fuselage (answer: very firmly) I decided no big deal and do my best to ignore it.
