My setup: Two G3X Touch screens and a Garmin 375 IFR navigator. On an instrument approach I like to know my distance to the airport, for purposes of radio calls. The way my G3X top of screen data fields are configured, I display distance to the next waypoint but I don't show distance to the airport. I can turn the 375 to the Nearest Airport page and get the distance that way but I'm wondering if anyone else has a better way of displaying distance to destination.

Distance to the airport is at the bottom. Jim

I do the math and add IAF, FAF and runway to get distance. Looks like FPL page would be easier. Think I’ll try it. Ed

Ed, yeah I was doing the math as well and I figured there has to be a more elegant solution.

I flew today and I didn't see that the Flight Plan page helps. The total at the bottom included distance to the missed approach point so one still has to do the math.

Ah yes. I guess it’s back to the math until we figure another way.

Well I haven't tried it yet, I'll try on my next flight, but can't we configue one bearing pointer to be for the most obvious nearest airport? If so then I would think most times when on an approach the bearing pointer would read out distance to the destination airport. I'll give it a try Wednesday.

I'll take another look at in route to SnF. Maybe it's FLT PLN, touch destination, then info...? I'll post my findings. I know there is a way to do it.

Flew tonight and confirmed you can get there by: FPL, tap airport, tap waypoint info. It's at the bottom. Might be quicker to run the numbers. LOL
One more thought... If you use Foreflight, you could set "Direct to" on your iPad and keep the panel waypoints.

I'm flying tomorrow, will play around with the bearing pointer.

Have you tried the WPT page? It appears as if that is a short cut as long as the airport is the waypoint shown.

I just flew to Sun n Fun and did two approaches and forgot to check waypoint page during the approach to see if it still showed distance to airport of next fix. Ed

I flew an approach today and looked. The waypoint airport page does indeed, at the bottom, give distance to airport.

Same setup, minus the IFR navigator. You should press the “nearest” button, that should show you distance to, among other things.

You should press the “nearest” button, that should show you distance to, among other things. That rarely works where I'm at. (South side of Atlanta). There are so many grass strips that's all you see when you hit the nearest button. By the time it does show up there, I'm likely on the last leg of the FLT PLN anyway...
