I'd be surprised if Tecnam approved that modification given that it would increase the weight/decrease useful load. I believe it's heavier than the 914. Tecnam didn't go for the 915, so why would it be different with the 916?

With the supposed pending revisions for certified ‘light sport’ aircraft this engine is a game changer. To now have a VFR only 4-seater that can be flown with a LSA license would change the game tremendously for those who cling to ancient Cessnas and Beechcraft. Also, the sheer capabilities for speed make such an airplane very desirable: and Tecnam, flawed as they are, seem to be the only major player who can make a new airplane in a short period of time.
