Hello all! I'm the new owner of a 2015 P2008 with a 914. I've got about 10 hours in the new-to-me aircraft since closing on its sale last Friday. I love the plane but I've also got a list of questions that continues to grow. Sorry for bombarding the group with these, but any help or advice is much appreciated!
1. Rudder Trim Tab - Which direction and how much bend do others have in their rudder tab? Mine is bent 45 degrees or more to the left. Is that normal?
2. Fuel Pressure Readings - Mine are always toward the top of green at a minimum. If I pull power and start descending, the fuel PSI is off the scale beyond red. But if I pull the fuel pump breaker, it quickly drops toward the bottom of green, and I suspect will keep going (but I don't want to find out). Anyone else experienced unusual fuel PSI readings? Does anyone know the current part number to the sensor? I haven't experienced any roughness in the motor, and I believe the readings to be faulty, but it's definitely a concern for me.
3. High Voltage - My voltage during flight is consistently at 14.9V with 10 amps. It occasionally shows as high as 15V. What's everyone else seeing for voltage during flight operations?
4. MAP - On takeoff I've seen it as high as 41.1, with the G3X showing red warning. I've not seen the red or orange dash indicators illuminate. Has anyone else seen high MAP readings like this? Cause for concern? I'm considering replacing the air box sensor.
5. RPMS - On Takeoff with 115% throttle I'm typically around 5220-5240 RPM. Trimmed out in cruise, if I go 100% throttle the motor will be close to 5800 RPM. Do these numbers seem normal for the aircraft & motor combination? I would've thought I needed to add more pitch to bring the WOT RPM down and get better cruise speeds, but I believe it's harder on the motor to be spinning less than 5200 during climb.
6. Nose Gear - It compresses when braking. Is that expected or do I need to it pressurized?
7. Smell - With the window vents closed, I'm getting a 6 - 7 PPM reading on my monoxide detector. There's also a very slight exhaust scent that sticks to my clothes. Is this expected? I assume I'm getting some exhaust from the small openings at the rudder pedals.
8. Oil Temps - I have to fly low and fast to get the oil temperature to stay in the green. This one is the most surprising to me. I'm used to overheating before takeoff at controlled airports with other LSA. I get covering the radiator up North during winter, but is anyone else doing this in Florida?
Again, thank you in advance for any feedback to any of these items. Without having been in another Tecnam previously, I don't have anything to compare to. The plane definitely seems to be flying great, but with two young kids at home, I'm always paranoid if something seems a little "off".
