Does everyone else have this same opening in the pilot and co-pilot footwell, where the rudder pedals connect to the exterior springs? I've been trying to diagnose an exhaust smells and cabin CO problem. Lockwood stated that an exhaust leak on the 914 is unlikely, and even then I'd need to have an accompanying firewall crack for that to be the source. They then asked if I had any openings in the hull of the aircraft. There is a clear-ish plastic piece that bends around the pedal root. But it definitely leaves an opening, and given its position and proximity to the exhaust, I don't see how any of these aircraft would have a fresh air smell and be free of CO. Did they modify the design? Or can everyone else see daylight when looking down at the pedal?

Looks like mine!
I’ve not had an issue with exhaust smells—make sure your exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler is positioned correctly. It needs to be as ‘vertical’ as the locking ring allows—and still gets through the bottom engine nacelle so that you have the max pipe extension away from the firewall-bottom of the plane.

Thanks Mike, I'll take a look at it tomorrow and see if there's any way to reposition it a bit. I noticed while I was at Tecnam in Sebring last week, the 912 exhaust pipe extends out like 6 inches longer. Looks like it would make a world of difference.

I need to do this as well. I think it's the MOGAS. I use e-free 93, but it still stains the belly. Do you have a pic of your installation you could share?

I know Walmart (Murphy's) sells it. I've been debating whether it's worth it to stick with ethanol-free from a lower tier station, or ethanol from a "top tier" station.
