I had a moderately long and interesting conversation with the Tecnam sales director for the US today at Oshkosh.
Bottom line—from his perspective—Tecnam is following what will happen with MOSAIC (although he said he had not read it) so they can determine what new airplane they can build: little or no interest in doing anything with restating performance capabilities for existing LSA models, other than, maybe, changing max weight in the US to match similar values that are used globally for the same aircraft.
I asked him if he ever looked at this community board to get a sensing of what existing owners (and future repeat customers) are saying and thinking about Tecnam and the various aircraft models: I won’t detail his response other than to say it was not positive about the board—or the people on it.
While his is not the final say, I did not get the impression he is interested in Tecnam being an advocate or participant with the FAA while the current rule proposals are in the public commentary period.
That is a pity, because anything Tecnam does that will broaden the market, interest, and resale value of existing aircraft only adds to the opportunity for those of us who subsequently sell to then roll those proceeds over into a new Tecnam.
But then again, if this is the prevailing attitude of the company, probably not. We will see.
If any of you attend Oshkosh this year and have the opportunity to speak with David, it will be interesting if collectively we can sway his viewpoint that MOSAIC for existing aircraft and owners is important.

I had a similar conversation with him a year ago. He implied we were causing all the problems with their perfect airplanes and we were for the most part Morons! Their in the business of selling airplanes not making customers happy after the sale. In fairness to Tecnam they have better customer support system than most other LSA manufacturers. Even the certified manufacturers aren’t big enough to give customers the kind of service we get and expect from the auto manufacturers. The volume just isn’t there. Ed

He implied we were causing all the problems with their perfect airplanes and we were for the most part Morons! Did he cite anything in particular here? I'm pretty new to the forums but I haven't seen any drama swinging around. I HAVE seen more than a few things on several planes that really show the difference between US and non-US standards of construction are, however...I wonder if that could be leading to what I'm feeling may be some bitterness this thread seems to be spotlighting.

Hi Nohippychicks,
I would not take what you read too serious, we all vent a little from time to time😊 Most us of on this forum have been around a long time. And have been through the Tecnam Customer service Grinder. Things have definitely gotten better 😊 If you want to read some serious complaints go back to the early years when the forum was new……… Hope this helps you have a better understanding of our group.
Ed does bring up and old complaint Tecnam definitely builds a beautiful airworthy Airplane, but service and support after the sale still lags behind our American 🇺🇸 counter parts like Cessna & many other American based Aircraft manufacturers……….
