I'm planning to head down to Sebring sometime within the next week or so for 1TA's 100 hour maintenance interval. I know what's involved, but not sure what to expect on cost. Anyone have a ballpark number they could share?

I thought the 100 hour schedule was only if you carry passengers for hire...... the following is an excerpt from the FAA Repairman Course: "Successful completion of the Repairman Maintenance Rating allows you to perform the maintenance, the annual condition inspection, and the 100 hour inspections (required on aircraft used for hire) on Special Light Sport Aircraft and Experimental Light Sport Aircraft. "

Section 3.10 of the Tecnam Aircraft P2008 Line Maintenance Manual states the following:
Airframe and systems inspection schedule is as follows:
* Daily Inspections as specified in Flight Manual * Periodic inspections at 100 hours / 1 year (whichever comes first) * Special inspections added to normal periodic inspections * Singular inspection, when aircraft has been exposed to conditions that may have damaged one or more of its components * Replacement of parts subject to usage limitations are specified in par. 3.11

Section 2.3 of the Rotax 912i Series Line Maintenance Manual states the following:
Annual Inspection: A 100 hour inspection is to be carried out periodically after every 100 hours of operation or every 12 months, whichever comes first.

I've had my plane a little over 3 months and I'll be at 100 hours by the time I get to Sebring next Wednesday (9/28). If anyone is in the area, let's grab lunch. I plan to arrive early Wednesday morning.

If it is not FAA regulatory, does it legally have to be done? I have been told there is little if any difference between a 100 hour and an annual. I would doubt if the 100 hour is a legal requirement. Does anyone know the answer to this? I mean 100 hours go by fast. It almost seems ridiculous. I have almost 350 hours in 1.5 years of flying. Between 100 hour and annuals, it would spend most of the year in the shop. That would mean I needed 5 'annual equivalents' inspections in the last 18 months.

I ask Joe at Lockwood about the cost of the 100hr/annual inspection. He told me $800 plus need repairs. You are not required to do a 100hr inspection according to the FAA but you do need to do the 100hr inspection on the 912. It took me 2 hrs to open the plane up and 2 hrs to inspect and lube. It took me 4 hrs to service the engine, oil change, clean the oil tank, compression check, change the spark plugs and syc the carbs. It took longer than required because I was double checking everything. I hope this helped.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim is your 100 hr. inspection being done at Tecnam or Lockwood? Tecnam will be performing my 100 hr. It is my understanding that if you do not follow Rotax/Tecnam's recommendations your warranties will be void.

Looking at my invoices from past annual inspections it is usually a little over $1000. unless they find problems that need extra parts and labor.
