After three great flying years in my 2016 P2008, I have decided to put her up for sale. There is nothing wrong with the plane, I absolutely love it. I purchased it new after getting my sport pilot certificate. But for the next flying chapter I will be moving to a 4 seat IFR capable plane. If interested, details can be found at Controller. Mark Gregor is handling the sale. He is the most knowledgeable P2008 guy in the country. 2016 P2008 914, dual G3X with chute

I was really interested in that plane when I bought my Tecnam. Are you building the Sling yourself? Doing a quick build with one of the authorized partners? I’m sure we would all benefit from the details and from you reporting your experience here!

I've been drooling over that plane for a year now. I second Grant's request. Please take pics and keep us posted on the build. I'm guessing you're doing the fast build assist program at one of the locations? Which location are you using? I think they have one at the factory plus a couple of others?

The build assist is happening at Midwest Sky Sports in Caro, Michigan. Henry Rise is my main contact, but their whole crew is terrific. As a nice plus, Henry was a mechanic for the Blue Angels when he was in the Navy. His attention to detail has been wonderful.
I will find some build photos and post them in the next day or so!

They have been my primary service center when I’m in Chicago: Henry is a great guy!

That’s who I was talking to and came away very impressed. Got cold feet though when I admitted to myself that I have no skills beyond lefty loosey righty tighty. I’d love to hear your experience and whether you think lack of skills would be a limitation. Heck, I’d even volunteer to go help pop a few rivets for you just to see the process....

I’d love to hear your experience and whether you think lack of skills would be a limitation. Heck, I’d even volunteer to go help pop a few rivets for you just to see the process.... I spoke to another build assist customer prior to agreeing to buy for the same reason you stated. I had the exact same concerns about skill sets and learning curve. I am moderately handy with small tools, but I am not a mechanic by any means. The tasks are not that difficult. The issue is having someone there with you who has done a build before, and can guide you to avoid mistakes. And also help sort out the thousands of parts. As an example, on my last visit Henry did a pre-assembly of the elevator after I primed all the parts. I would have studied the prints for two hours, but Henry had them all clecoed (temporary rivets) in minutes. I then riveted them together. If your concern is skill set, I would not be concerned at all. Here are two pictures of a clecoed wing, and then mostly riveted. I did all the riveting you see in the picture. Henry inspected my work of course!

Greg, what’s the total estimated time commitment to get it done? Looks like a lot of rivets!

You can be there for as little as two weeks to as much as almost all of the build time. The FAA has specific rules on what constitutes the 51%, and you follow those rules carefully. It already starts as a quick build kit, so you’ve got a head start. Figure 6 months with periodic visits from you. As to a ton of rivets, yes there are. But everything is match drilled, so that greatly reduces time, and the pop rivet air gun is very valuable!
