Has anyone experienced this issue? We found a crack on mine this morning. Sounds like we're going to have to pull the engine. Researching repair/replacement options... any advice would be appreciated...

Bummer. Can you describe where it is located and what it looks like? This way we can check the same spot. How did you find it? Was there something that caught your attention that made you look? You never know if something like this is a design or manufacturing issue.

As you may know, there are 2 mounts. One on the engine and one on the firewall. This is on the firewall mount. I've been quoted $3,405 for a new mount from Tecnam. I'm hoping they will cover this expense.

You never know if something like this is a design or manufacturing issue. We had the cowling off replacing an injector and the fuel filter when we noticed a crack in the paint on the mount. We scraped off some paint to confirm it was in the metal.

Yikes. Good thing you found it on the ground. Very frustrating. Remind me how old and how many hours for the plane? Have you checked to see if it can be welded?

I'm sure it could be welded, but I really didn't want to go down that road. After talking to others I was not comfortable with a spot weld long term, so I elected to replace the mount. It was not in stock at Sebring, so we had to order it from Italy.

Yes I agree to be comfortable replacing is better. Thanks for sharing the info. It puts all of us in the loop looking for this issue and helps identify trends for maintaining the safety of our planes. Much like the other issues that have popped up like cracking wind screens, bubbling paint, wheel and brake problems, etc. It would sure be interesting to have a metallurgist review the crack to determine if it was a design, construction, quality of material, or use issue. What exactly did Tecnam say? Are they surprised or show any concern?

I plan to ship the cracked mount directly to Tecnam for analysis.

The mount arrived in Sebring yesterday and should arrive at my house today. We plan to start removing the engine tomorrow. Has anyone done this? Any tips or suggestions?

Installation of the new mount is complete. I pick her up in a few hours. We sent the cracked mount to Tecnam. Hopefully they will warranty the item. Stay tuned.

Hi Flocker,
Glad you got the new mount installed...... look forward to hearing what they say about the original mount....l know you made the right choice replacing the original factory mount. I really wish you the best getting Tecnam to pick up the Tab on the replacement mount .....
I waited a year to have my Avionics guy fix my radio and ADSB the radio antennas ( loud squeal in my ears ) were reversed and I spent the last year with my ADSB NON - compliant and two days 16 hours tying to figure out what was wrong and found that pin 29 was shorted. Shannon failed to do a final qualification ADSB flight in controlled airspace to ensure that it was working. It N356X left Sebring Non-complaint and I have spent the last year flighing in controlled airspace Non - complaint, Got a call from the FAA NOTIFYING me I was not to fly the airplane until the ADSB was repaired and had to have a special flt permit to fly the three hours needed to get to Ryan field from Boulder City ...... Been waiting two weeks to see if Tecnam is going to reimburse me the $2000.00 I paid my Avionics guy to repair and update the software on the transponder it’s self. That’s right it’s a separate update apart from the PFD and the MFD up dates.... So keep that in mind when you do your software updates. So Let’s see if Tecanm does the right thing and reimburses us............. Keep in mind N356X is still under a full Two year factory warranty, The problem is I am not sure if the word Warranty translates well from Italian to English? They have denied the repair to the oil line that was strapped directly to the exhaust manifold ( And burned through ) from the factory that was another $2000.00 repair I paid for and Darn lucky I did not trash a brand new engine and an off airport landing .......
Ray & Lucy ✅👍🏻✈️😀🇺🇸

To close out this thread... Tecnam met me half-way and is going to reimburse me for 50% of the cost. Engine is back on and everything is running fine. It's good to be back in the air.
