I may have to give this a thought. On my trip from Florida to Washington I experienced a horrible chatter from I believe the right side. I asked the A and P who has the plane right now in Ogden to take a look at it. He has been unable to find any problems. Sounds like an inherent problem with the Tecnam supplied wheels and brakes. Disappointing to think that I bought a brand new plane and now have to spend more to make it right. Buzz Hi Buzz: Stock Tecnam wheels are cheap. Period. Yes, they should offer a Beringer upgrade, but they don't, so you have to do it yourself. If Tecnam aircraft came with Beringer, the aircraft would be $4000 more expensive. Nothing is free, and we pay for everything one way or another. As they say, thats the way it is. Now Cirrus comes with Beringer as standard equipment, but that is a $600-800k aircraft No point in fighting it for 2 years like I did, and eventually installing them. I went through 2 sets of tires and brake pads and missed out on landing bliss for 2 years. If you ever plan on getting Beringer, do it sooner rather than later and get the benefits now. Cole505 purchased parts and did the work himself for about a total of $3200. My parts costs were similar and I paid Mark's mechanics about $800 for the installation (hence $4000 total). Mark Gregor knows exactly what parts to get, as it is quite tricky with mixed metric and english threads. Don't purchase parts from one of the internet dealers. Have Mark get them for you and you will actually get all the correct pieces. Better yet, have Mark to the whole job for $4k. NOW there is another brand besides Beringer which has a good reputation, and is considerably cheaper, but I cannot remember. Tim, do you remember the brand? Tad Olmsted told us about them. Once we get that brand name, perhaps others are familiar with the brand and can offer comments on quality. One final comment, make sure your front caster is TIGHT. If you press down on the tail and the caster assembly flops left and right easily, the whole mechanism will vibrate left and right on landing. The left/right movement should be reasonable stiff. Thanks for the insight. Will also look at the nose wheel. Man I sure love all information that gets exchanged on here. So important as there aren't a lot of us out there. No local knowledge base to call on.

Tim thinks the alternate brake type is "MATCO". Anyone have any ideas about Matco?

I think mine came with MATCO brakes. I'll double check in the morning. So far my setup has been working flawlessly.

I have no idea the brand is stock on Tecnam. If it is MATCO, they have faired poorly for most of us and MATCO is not the one that was recommended as a replacement for the stock Tecnam brakes. I can send a note to the guy who made the recommendation so I get the name right. It may take me a few days to get the answer.

I just got a note from Tad Omsted an A&P at Deland, FL. He did verify that his recommendation for a less expensive Wheel / Tire / Brake set is MATCO. I am just repeating what he said. I personally know nothing about the quality, but I do know they are considerably cheaper than Baringer. If the price of Baringer is out of your budget range, this may be an option. I do know that he looked at Tim's wheel set and verified it was not MATCO, and suggested MATCO as an upgrade for folks who did not want to spend the $$$$ for Baringer. Flocker: If you really do have MATCO, perhaps that is why you are having better luck than the rest of us who do not have MATCO? Let us know for sure what you have.

If the MATCO were stock on your aircraft, perhaps Tecnam decided to upgrade from what they were putting on the aircraft initially. That is good.

I don't think Matco is stock. My plane was finished in Oct of 2015 and as I have stated in pervious post I am having a lot of chatter. I looked at my photos of my plane (because my plane is several hundred miles away from me right now) my pictures do not look like the Matco brakes above. I just sent an email to Tecnam about this issue and a few others and am waiting to see what they are willing to do to address the brake problem.

Vibration, noise, something out of balance, something out of shape, jumpy, uneven. When the brakes are applied they are not smooth they start to chatter. Not sure if that helps.
